Synchronous appointment slots (in person or online) are 25 or 50 minutes long--the extra time allows the tutor to fill out a quick report so your instructor knows you came. Asynchronous feedback takes much more time, so asynchronous appointments should always be 50 minutes unless your paper is 2 pages or shorter.
